The second group of students (6 females and 8 males) from Myanmar who are studying social sciences at the Chiang Mai University join the Critical Thinking in Higher Education workshop at the Thinking Classroom Foundation today. They learn about reading in critical thinking, writing in critical thinking, academic writing and humanistic approach to education. Eleven students (3 females and 8 males) joined the same workshop last week. They all are from different parts of Myanmar including Kachin State, Karen State, Shan State, Myeik, Bago, Yangon and Magway. My colleagues and I am happy that the workshop is useful for their studies.

Critical Thinking in Higher Education with Myanmar Students studying at Chiang Mai University29/6/2020 A group of eleven students from Myanmar who are studying social sciences at Chiang Mai University joined the Critical Thinking in Higher Education workshop at the Thinking Classroom Foundation on Saturday, 27 June 2020. Dr. Thein Lwin led the discussion on reading for critical thinking, writing for critical thinking, academic writing and introduced humanistic approach to education and SDG-4.
In the mid of Corona Virus Pandemic, the students are stuck in Chiang Mai and they were happy to join the workshop. They said that it might be better if they got this kind of knowledge before starting their courses at the university. Another group of students will join Critical Thinking in Higher Education workshop on coming Saturday, 4 July 2020. Invited by the Rural Indigenous Sustainable Education (RISE) in Pwinoolwin, TCF organised an RWCT 60-Hour Workshops on 2-12 March 2020. TCF's certified trainers L. Dai Lum and Mun Aung successfully led the workshop. Thirty-two participants (22 females and 10 males) from the Myanmar's Indigenous communities of Ahkar, Chin, Kachin, Kayan, Lahu, Naga, Pa-Oh and Shan.
February 29 to March 4, 2020 Kathmandu, Nepal Dr. Thein Lwin attended the Executive Council Meeting of Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) in Kathmandu, Nepal from 28 February until 5 March. The Thinking Classroom Foundation is member of ASPBAE and its Chair Dr. Thein Lwin was elected to the Council for the years 2017-2020 on behalf of the South East Asia Region. During the meeting, the EC members and staff reviewed the ASPBAE activities for 2019 and proposed plans for 2020. Besides, it was discussed on ASPBAE's 8th General Assembly in December 2020.
Hinthada University
18-22 February 2020 "Active Learning and Critical Thinking" classroom strategies have been discussed and demonstrated by Dr. Thein Lwin of Thinking Classroom Foundation at Hinthada University on 18-22 February 2020. Over 140 participants have participated in the workshop including Associate Professors, Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers, Tutors and final year Master students. Thanks are due to Pro-Rector Dr. Mar Lar, Heads of Departments, Representative Committee of University Teacher Associations and Hinthada University Teacher Association for their arrangement for the workshop. 10-14 February 2020 Active Learning, Critical Thinking and Research Writing workshop has been conducted by Thinking Classroom Foundation with over 250 final year students at Mandalay Technological University during 10-14 February 2020. Thanks are due to Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ei Ei Htwe, Head of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Nilar Aye for their arrangement for the workshop. CTHE-1 was organised in May 2018 with 17 participants (Professors and Lecturers) from 17 universities. CTHE-2 was organised in May 2019 with 16 participants (Professors and Lecturers) from 16 universities. Kyaing Tong University (16-19 December 2019) Thinking Classroom Foundation, Representative Committee of University Teachers' Associations and Kyaing Tong University jointly organised Critical Thinking in Higher Education workshop at Kyaing Tong University on 16-19 December 2019. Forty Four participants (Professors and Lecturers) from twelve departments attended the workshop. The Rector of the university empowered the workshop. The Rector, Deputy Rector, and Heads of Departments attended at the closing ceremony. West Yangon University (9-13 December 2019)

Thirty one participants (Professors and Lecturers) attended the workshop. The Rector and two Deputy Rectors attended at the closing ceremony. Thinking Classroom Foundation, Representative Committee of University Teachers' Associations and Hpa-an University jointly organised a workshop on Critical Thinking in Higher Education on 2-6 December 2019 at the Hpa-an University, Karen State. Twenty-Five participants including Professors, Associate Professors, Lecturers and Assistant Lecturers from Hpa-an University and Technical College in Hpa-an attended the workshop. Five members of Hpa-an University Student Union also participated in the workshop as observers. Deputy Rector and Head of Departments attended the closing ceremony. Thinking Classroom Foundation, Representative Committee of University Teachers' Associations and University of Yangon jointly organised a workshop on Critical Thinking in Higher Education at the Research Centre of the University of Yangon on 7-11 October 2019. Sixteen participants (Professors and Lecturers) attended the workshop. A group of RWCT teachers from Kachin, Rakhine, Shan, Magwe, Mandalay and Sagging who had attended RWCT Intensive Teacher Training during 2015-2018 has completed Training of Trainers Workshop in Chiang Mai on 1-10 November 2019. They will go back to Myanmar on Sunday 11 November and organise RWCT 60-Hour Workshops in their respective regions. RWCT 60 Hour Workshops in 2019RWCT 60-Hr Workshop with 62 Teachers in Kachin State in November 2019 Sixty-two teachers from Church-based schools in Kachin State participated in the RWCT 60-hr Workshop organised by the Ningshawng Training Centre of Kachin Education Foundation based in Myitkyina, Kachin State on 5-15 November 2019. These teachers were divided into two groups led by four RWCT trainers, Lazum Ji Pan, U Mung Awng, Daw Kyi Kyi Myint and Daw Shu Mawa. The trainers have rich experiences in teaching and completed 60-hr RWCT workshops in their regions some years ago organised by TCF. They have recently completed 40-day RWCT-TOT workshop in Chiang Mai during June-July 2019. RWCT Workshop in Mae Sot for Migrant School Teachers in October 2019 The Burmese Migrant Teachers' Association (BMTA) organises 60-Hour RWCT workshop at the Children's Development Centre (CDC) in Mae Sot on 16-26 October 2019. RWCT trainers Sayama Naw Enita Sawlay (TOT 2019) and Sayama Naw Takaw Wah (TOT 2019) lead the workshop. The workshop was participated by 40 teachers from Myanmar migrant schools in Tak Province of Thailand. TCF Program Director and trainer Ms. Hawng Tsai (Ah Sai) join the training on 24-26 October and deliver certificates to the participants on behalf of Thinking Classroom Foundation. RWCT Workshop in Mandalay, September 2019 RWCT trainer Daw Kyi Kyi Zin and Coordinator Daw Nan Thidar (ITT-5) organise 60-Hour RWCT Workshop at the Salay Monastic Education High School in Mandalay in September 2019. The workshop is participated by 33 teachers (mostly female). Two RWCT Workshops in Hopone, Southern Shan State, August and September 2019 RWCT trainer Daw Kyi Kyi Myint and Nang Mi sein, and Coordinator Nang Nilar Aung (ITT-4) organise two 60-Hour RWCT Workshop at Naung Taung Philanthropic Monastic Education High School in Hopone, Southern Shan State during August and September 2019.. The first workshop is attended by 26 teachers and the second workshop is 35. Most participants are female. RWCT Workshop in Monywa, Sagaing District, March 2019Daw Myint Myint Hlaing (ITT-5), Daw Wai Wai Aung (ITT-4), Daw Thida Htway (ITT-4) and Daw Aye Myat Nwe (RWCT Trainer) organize 60-Hour RWCT Workshop at Ma-Ku-Ta-Ra-Ma Monastic Education Center in Monywa from 23 March to 1 April 2019 with the support of Sayadaw Ashin Ma-Hein-Da Pan-Dita from the Vejayanta Monastic Education. It is participated by 31 participants (mostly female).
