An initiative to establish a federal university
TCF has been initiating together with university teacher unions, ethnic-based education groups (Karen, Karenni, Kachin, Mon and Shan), faith-based education groups (Chin and Kachin) and migrant education groups to setup a university in Mon State. The university intends to provide Social Sciences courses in October 2022. Students from ethnic-based schools, faith-based schools, migrant schools as well as from inside Myanmar will be recruited.
A university establishing committee has been formed and TCF is part of the committee. The committee has been held meetings almost ever Thursdays since April 2021. We are currently preparing syllabus for the social sciences courses. It is a non-profit university. The professors and lecturers from the University Teacher Associations will teach at the university as volunteers. The Mon National Education Committee provided a land for the university. The organizations who initiated for this university will contribute for the student costs. A financial team of the committee has been formed and doing on fund raising for the teaching and learning materials and university running costs.
